Liliana Hernández-Obando has extensive experience as an Art Curator, and in Museography, Art Management and Consulting. She is currently the Director of Plecto Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo, a platform for artistic projects and artist representation. Liliana is bilingual, and she has directed and coordinated numerous multicultural art events, in museums and independent spaces throughout Colombia and the United States.
Liliana began her professional art curation career as a member of the curatorial group for the “City of Medellín Art Festival 1997”, and later was named Art Curator at the Museum of Art in the University of Antioquia (1997-2000), in Medellín, Colombia, one of the most prestigious in Art, History. Science and Anthropology in the country.
After traveling to the United States, she became the Museographer for the exhibition. “The Silk Road” at the Upcountry History Museum, in Greenville, South Carolina. Liliana presided as Curator of the “Latin American Art Show” and “Latin American Hispanic Film Festival ” (2005-2009) at Clemson University in South Carolina.
In 2010, upon returning to Medellín, Colombia, Liliana assumed the role of Art Director for the Festival of Art & Performance. This led to Liliana’s service for four years as Art Consultant and Curator of the “Contemporary Art Auction of the Santiago Corazón Foundation” (2012-2016). Subsequently, she was selected as Curator and Artistic Director for “Art Medellín 2017”, and the “Medellín International Art Fair”.
Most recently, Lilliana served as the Curator and Art Director for a public television channel, TeleMEDELLÍN’s documentary series “B de Volumen” (2022-2023), filmed as an homage to the life and works of master artist, Fernando Botero. In Colombia, the series won an important award in the public television organization, leading to the
opportunity to compete internationally in “INPUT 2024” (International Public Television) for the global award.
